Media and Communications 

The Media and Communications department is tasked with developing, managing, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring communication and visibility strategies for TransWave Jamaica with the objective of promoting awareness, understanding, support and respect for the rights of Trans persons including those gender non-conforming and non-binaries while dovetailing all of TransWave’s work, activities, events and programmes in support of the organization’s mission, vision and goal. 

The Media and Communications department manages TransWave Jamaica’s brand, image and communications strategy. The team develops, updates and implement the communications and visibility plans annually for the organisation within the framework of communication goals, objectives and target audiences via key dissemination channels to convey key messages, TransWave Jamaica’s positions and achievements. As part of the wider communications plan, the team develops social media campaigns that focus on the diverse needs of the trans community and ensure synergy with the wider communications portfolio. The Media and Communications department conducts social marketing research to inform the development of communications and visibility plans. They are responsible for improving the visibility of TransWave Jamaica and its programmes including its outreach and advocacy initiatives. The team carries out communications work around submissions and wider advocacy activities as to keep TransWave’s positions and the need for movements with pieces of legislation in the forefront. The Media and Communcations department develop a comprehensive catalogue of information, education, and communication (IEC) materials related to Trans identity and issues affecting Trans people that are in tandem with the programme work of TransWave Jamaica. They create content and update the organisation’s social media platforms daily while managing engagement and feedback.
