Outreach & Community Engagement
Reaching and serving our community builds the work we do. Under strategic objective III, the team works to create safe spaces for all. Our signature events and support services are key in linking trans persons to care and foster environments where persons are accepted.
Our support groups foster an affirming environment for trans, gender non-conforming and non-binary Jamaicans. We discuss a wide range of topics including, violence, love, identity, physical & mental health.
Our empowerment sessions educate and inform our community to increase access to essential services.
Gender-based violence is one of the major issues that trans persons face. Dance and other physical activities are a part of our Jamaican culture. Through our TransActive brand, we curate spaces for our community to heal and release their emotions through physical activities, while learning how to protect themselves. Join us at our next activity!
Our Trans Emergency Fund was created to assist trans and gender non-conforming Jamaicans who encounter an unforeseen financial emergency or catastrophic event which impede their health and wellbeing. These funds are not intended to be used for routine expenses or as a consistent supplement for housing or health-related expenses. These funds are meant unforeseeable circumstances and are given based on the eligibility criteria outlined within this document.
Our one-on-one therapy sessions are for trans persons who are experiencing violence or isolation because of their gender identity. They are free and available via appointments only. Contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. No appointments are available at the moment.
Our couples therapy sessions are for persons seeking to support and provide a safe space for their trans-identified partner, friend or family member. Sessions are free and available via appointments only. Book an appointment by contacting email@example.com.
