Policy & Advocacy
Our policy & advocacy team is the heart of our advocacy work. Programmes facilitated by our advocacy team work to improve the community’s access to employment, essential public services (medical, public safety, and education) and promote overall well-being. Nevertheless, the team collaborates with stakeholders to develop legislative initiatives that support the self-determination of TGNCNB persons.
This programme is geared towards providing trans people with the tools to access global redress and accountability systems, specifically the UN Human Rights Mechanisms to highlight and discuss their issues. Our ambassadors are empowered to become leaders and influencers in a global context through training and technical support. We are committed to creating a cadre of trans human rights defenders to help create change through meetings with stakeholders, participation on panels/speaker’s bureau sessions, writing reports and other such related activities on a global scale.
Research data about Jamaica's transgender and gender non-conforming community is now emerging. It is our hope to have more research data around the lived experiences of transgender Jamaicans.
Training & Sensitization
We provide training and sensitization for our community, civil society partners and private sector organizations.
Health & Wellness Conference
Our Trans Health and Wellness Conference creates a space for meaningful discussions about transgender health and well-being by engaging beneficiaries around a range of topics featuring plenary discussions, speakers’ bureau, presentations, and breakout sessions. We explore emerging research and provide a platform for partnership and further collaborations with entities working with and engaging the community.
